So you’ve setup the desk. Now what? Well, let’s look into the Show Files and how we handle them. But first, we need to ask ourselves the age old question.

What is a Show File?

I’ve mentioned Show Files in my other console based tutorials, but here’s what grandMA3 consider to be a show file.

• Patches
• Fixture profiles
• Cues
• Timings
• 3D information
• Users and user profiles

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE for the love of all things stage lighting, save the old show before loading or making a new one! Don’t make the same mistakes I have made…

Where are these show files saved?

Where are they saved I hear you ask? All bits of management relating to these files is handled in the Backup Menu. So how exactly do we access this menu?

1. Press [Menu]
2. Tap {Backup}

Or you could use the Menu command to call it (Menu or Men).

Important Things to Note:

A loaded show file is limited to 10GB of memory. Not much, so use it well. Then we have the size of all media pools in total. This is a MAXIMUM of 300MB.

The showfile name is a MAXIMUM of 31 characters and cannot contain: \ “ $ * ? ^ | /

Show files can be stored in one of two places. The internal drive or a USB stick.
