For the theatre I currently volunteer at, there is a dimmer box from the 60s which has all of the patches for each of the lights. There are roughly 80 in total. In order to patch you must do the following:
- Make sure that the right light (i.e. Fresnel, Spotlight, etc.) are setup on the bars and pointing in the right direction.
- If they’re not pointing in the right direction, you WILL need to climb up the ladder and move them.
- Plug the light into the plugs on the bar, these will match to the plugs near the dimmer box.
- Plug the lights that you need (the numbered ones underneath the box) to the channel that you want the light in (i.e. light 61 → channel 1). This will then reflect on the console.
