So you’ve ordered a grandMA3 lighting console and now need to set it up properly. Have no fear, this guide is here!

Position the Device

So you need to do a couple of things before using the device.

• DO NOT place the device in a humid area - this may cause issues with the device later on.
• Place the device on a stable, flat, dry surface - this is pretty self explanatory. You don’t want to be using this device in a swimming pool or on your laps…
• Do not cover the ventilation holes - this may cause issues again with the desk and it may overheat.
• Do not expose the device to sunlight - heat + electronics = bad
• Maintain a MINIMUM distance of 15cm (or 5.91 inches if you use inches) between the touch screen and radios. If you choose to ignore this, then be prepared for some funky mouse movements or touch actions.

Power Connection

Some of the grandMA3 devices use powerCON connectors or powerCON TRUE connectors. Some devices also use IEC connectors. Make sure that you’re plugging in the right connectors to the right devices…

Desk Lights

Some of the desks have the ability to connect a 4 pin XLR desk light to the desk on the rear panel. And in some rare occasions (like on the full-size and light CRV desks) - there are 2 connections for desk lights!

DMX Connections

So if you have noticed, I’ve mentioned different grandMA3 devices. These devices also have different amount of DMX ports at the back too. There can be up to 6 DMX out ports - labelled A-F and one DMX in port.

No matter which PHYSICAL direction the connector has, the great thing about grandMA3 is that you can edit the configuration in the software to be capable of an in and out direction.

Shutting Down the System

Before shutting down the system, the best thing to do is to SAVE THE FILE via the Backup Menu.

You then have a couple of options to shutdown the system:
